Sewing Hanging Windsocks

Hanging Fabric Windsock

About Windsocks - Hanging windsocks are an awesome project to make.  It is a great project for beginners. One can add different color ribbons to brighten up the windsock.  Fabric windsocks can be hung inside by a window, or  under a porch or protected area from direct sunlight or rain. If they are hung directly outside there is a possibility the sunlight or rain will damage your windsock even if a protective spray has been put on.
Best type of Fabric to use- Light, medium, or heavy weight cotton will work best for making hanging windsocks. Also, a light weight vinyl type of fabric will work well.
Easy type Pattern - The photo above is the easiest windsock one could make and is only 1 pattern piece.
Difficult type Pattern - Windsocks can be made in animal or object shape.  These type of patterns are much more difficult than the windsock shown above.
Pattern Pieces - Pattern pieces can range from one, as shown in the windsock above, and up to 25 pieces for a more advanced project.
Cost & Fabric usage - Small windsocks do not require much fabric at all.  However, when adding the ribbon, beads, feathers, and what ever else you decide to put on your windsock the cost adds up.  The windsock above requires about 1/4 of a yard.
Comments - Have fun with making a windsock!!! Just use your imagination.  Add beads, feathers, gems, and more.
