I am so proud of
Erika and Sara and their awesome, very cool, denim jackets they made.
They took their time, took pride in their work, and never tried
a "short-cut" or "cheating" in their sewing. They never
complained when I gave them instructions, or said something had to be
ripped out. The both of them make me proud to be a sewing teacher!!!
This is the first time they, made button holes, did a
flat-felled seam,
worked with a collar, and trimmed a garment in faux fur. |

Heather made a fully lined
winter coat. The outer layer of the coat was made from a
brown/tan/blue scroll print corduroy fabric. The trim around the cuffs and
outside of the coat was made from tan fleece for warmth, and the coat was
lined in a brown print cotton fabric.
Notice the top right photo
which is the inside back lining of her coat. If you look closely you
will see extra fabric. All lining on coats in the back require this
extra fabric to give the coat room to move while you move.
Otherwise, if you move your arms up or foward, the seams will be stretched
too far and rip. |

This fleece coat was made by
Jena, a mother of 5 from Georgia. This was her first attempt at sewing !!!

| Here is a photo of
Jacqueline, an advanced sewing student, who made this awesome denim fitted jacket
using flat-felled seams
and
princess seams. She added the final touch with a tan faux fur collar
and brown button. |

Jacqueline wanted to
make the "Sinking Coat" from James Cameron's 1997 block buster hit
movie, "Titanic." The original coat from the movie was made of light pink
wool, however Jacqueline wanted to wear the coat year round so she made it
from light pink corduroy. |
Her trim in the
sleeves and collar was made from tedious cuttings of black lace fabric and
applying them by appliqué. She designed the coat on paper first.

Here is a coat that I made
for me, but Jaqi kind of took it over. It was made from fleece just
like the coat above. The outside that you see is an ultra-suede
swirl print. Fleece keeps you very warm and is a great fabric to
make winter jackets and coats with. This coat is reversible. |
