How to make
a
Pumpkin Doily from fabric Yo-Yo's
For this cute little Pumpkin
Doily made from fabric yo-yo's, you will need just a simple circle pattern
and scraps of fabric! It's all made by hand sewing... |

First you
will need scraps of green and orange fabric. Then you will need to
make a yo-yo pattern. Find a circle object that you can use for your
pattern and trace it. What ever size your pattern is, the yo-yo
will be about 1/2 the size when finished. My pattern is a 5 1/2" circle. |

Pin and cut
as many yo-yo's as you would like, depending on what shape and size you
want your pumpkin to be. |

Now let's
make a yo-yo. It really is rather simple. Do a running stitch on the
outer edge of your circle with your thread doubled.
Once you are near the end (where you
began at the circle) gently pull the thread tight and the outer edge of
the circle will begin to pull up and meet in the center.
With your fingers, move and flatten the
yo-yo until you like the way it looks. Knot the thread a couple of
times to hold the yo-yo in place.

Once all your
yo-yo's are sewn, place them on a flat surface the way you want them to be
sewn together for your pumpkin. |

|
On the flat
side of the yo-yo, tack the yo-yo's together one at a time on the outer
edges as shown in the photo until all yo-yo's are sewn together. |
