Know someone who just had a baby? Once your doll body is made, stitch up a cute outfit in either baby girl or baby boy colors and add a pillow with a saying. To make it more personal add the baby's name and date on it.

This nurse doll was made coping a ladies re-enactment nurse dress from just after the civil war.

For my winter snow girl dolls, I used fabrics like fleece, ultra suede, and corduroy for their dresses.

Autumn is my favorite time to make crafts. With my "Mrs. Scarecrow" dolls I stuffed raffia up the sleeves and pant legs and then tied jute rope around to hold both the garment and raffia in place.

"Mr. Snowman" can sit many ways. I made him with long legs and arms so that he could sit and pose.  I made his winter had extra long and added a big rusty bell to the end.

Early cloth doll bodies were homemade with scraps of fabric.  Nothing was thrown out or wasted back then.  Most were constructed with a front and a back including legs. The arms were attached separately. One piece body dolls were produced commercially in the early 1800's in many European countries.  By 1840 muslin bodies were being made that could sit. With this adorable snowman doll I just hot glued pre-made skies and poles onto him, and added some fake snow. He was one of my best sellers during the winter craft season.
