Photos of Handmade Creative Dog Toys

photo page 1

Mary Ann from Orland Hills, Illinois, made this cute dog bone toy for her pup.  She embroidered "BITE ME!" on the fabric first before sewing the bone together and she added a squeaker inside.

This is just too cute to give to a puppy to chew up! But Mary Ann from Illinois not only made one for her pup, she made 12 and donated them to a puppy/dog shelter! And she made these cute fish toys below too.

She embroidered all the lines and eyes on the sea creatures and put a squeaker in each toy. Mary Ann made the fish pattern herself, but you can find the turtle pattern here at http://www.tinybirdsorganics.com/organiccotton/. This lady offers free patterns way down at the bottom of the page.

You will want to always use embroidery or use a zigzag stitch for eyes or embellishing because puppies could chew off and swallow buttons or wiggly eyes.

Mary Ann also made this cute teddy bear the same way. She used scraps of natural cotton fabric that was just hanging around the house waiting to be sewn into something. Her dogs love the toys! And they were a lot cheaper than buying them! Thanks goes to Mary Ann for sharing her creative ideas with us!

Ashley from Laurel Hill, North Carolina made her very first dog toy, the blue bone. Then she decided to make one for more  dogs. She made one for her chug "Buster", one for her  mom's Chihuahua "Mia", and one for her dad's pit-bull "Bulldog". She decided to make dog toys because her chug, which is 9 months old keeps tearing his other toys apart. So she decided to make him a new one.

I made this silly dog toy for our Golden Retriever pup, Gypsy.  I thought she would like it because of the big eyes and lips I put on it. I simply cut out an oval shape from lambs wool for the front and back, and zigzagged appliquéd the lips and eyes and eyelashes on the front piece.  Then I put the front and back pretty sides together, sewed around leaving an opening. Then I turned it pretty side out, stuffed it, added a squeaker,  and hand stitched it up. It measures about 8"X7". My kids think it's silly looking, but Gypsy loved it!
