Your Life After High School - Getting Ready for College

written by; Judi Harris

Why We Decided to Write About Getting Ready for College

If only I would have known what I know now.  How many times have you heard that? Boy, is it especially true for what we learned about college and prepping for it.

When I began this website many years ago my four children were in grade school and middle school.  The last thing on my mind was worrying about college loans, grants, scholarships, or anything of that matter, especially college loans turning into large student consolidation loans. Besides, my children were promised since they were five years old that their college was being paid for from a benefactor that will remain unnamed. So our family did not save, nor did we prepare for what lied ahead of us. Although all four of my children went to college, I was not the kind of mom to "force" my kids to college, I only encouraged them.

However, after the first year of my oldest daughter's college experience, that benefactor fell through, and that left my family on a real quick journey to learning all about college loans, grants, and more. She had 3 years left in college and I had three other children right behind her on their path to entering college. The idea of me having this website is to share and educate people my knowledge and love of sewing. I feel we have experienced and learned so much with 4 kids in college that I just felt the need to share our many experiences with college, whether housing, FAFSA, consolidating student loans, taking out college loans, or just plan leaving home for college we wanted to help make your experience with college an easier one.
