The Academy Awards and Costume Design

Two of my FAVORITE things about the Academy Awards are: One, I like to see what all the movie stars are wearing and who designed the gowns, and Two, I like to see what picture won Best Costume Design.  I love the costumes in the movies from the 1950's and back.  My favorite time is the 1900's and earlier, so you know some of my favorite movies for costume were : Titanic, Somewhere in Time, Man in the Iron Mask, Pride and Prejudice etc...

Let's take a look at some designs (sketches) on paper and the actual actors in the costume.

To the left is the design for the movie "Ray" and to the right is the actor portraying Ray Charles, Jamie Fox.

Here is another one from "Ray", 2005. Here are the back up singers, in costume to the right, and the design is on the left.

Here is one from "The Aviator". Unfortunately the lighting was bad on the right when I took the photo. The true colors are on the sketch on the left.
